"Trick or treat, little one!"
Ages 3–10 | A Good Witch from the Woods
In the deepest part of the Whitmore Woods, where the autumn leaves turn colors no painter could ever recreate, there's a cottage with a crooked chimney and a very friendly witch named Willow. Now, Willow knows that when most people think of witches, they think of cackling and cauldrons and things that go bump in the night. But she wants everyone to know — she's a GOOD witch. She bakes cookies for traveling hikers, helps lost cats find their homes, and never, ever plays tricks on children.
In fact, Willow started writing letters to children after she noticed something troubling: more and more kids were afraid of the dark, afraid of spooky things, afraid that Halloween was something to be scared of rather than celebrated. She decided that if every child had a friend who was a witch — a KIND witch — maybe they'd see that being different isn't scary at all. It's what makes you memorable.
Willow's letters always have a slightly spooky but deeply warm quality. She writes about the beauty of autumn nights, the joy of dress-up, and why there's nothing wrong with loving things that give you a little thrill. She reminds kids that courage isn't about not being scared — it's about being scared and still walking up to someone's door, saying "trick or treat," and meaning it with your whole heart.
"Dear Grayson, I was flying over your neighborhood on Halloween night and I saw YOU — out in the cold, walking from house to house, dressed as a knight (one of the bravest costumes, if you ask me), and you didn't even flinch when the big dog next door barked! That's real courage, Grayson. Most people would have run. You just smiled and kept going. The world needs more people like you. Broom ride high, little one! 🧙♀️"
"Dear Scarlett, moving is hard — especially when you have to leave your old friends behind. But I want you to know something: every October, I visit neighborhoods all across the country, and I've seen a LOT of kids. And I can tell you — the kids who are brave enough to move, to try new things, to say 'trick or treat' to strangers — those are the kids who grow up to do AMAZING things. Your new neighborhood is lucky to have you, Scarlett. 🕷️"
"Dear Oliver, I heard you're sometimes afraid of the dark. Well, let me tell you a secret: the dark is just the sky's way of showing you the stars. And the stars? They're thousands of little witch lights that never burn out. On the scariest nights, I want you to look up and remember — your friend Willow is out there somewhere, flying past the moon, thinking of you. The dark is never really dark, Oliver. 🌙"
Halloween Witch letters are spooky-sweet. Younger kids get friendly, giggle-inducing messages about candy and costumes. Older kids get something more layered — about courage, belonging, and finding your tribe.
"My son MAX was terrified of anything 'spooky' — wouldn't even watch Hocus Pocus. We got the Halloween Witch letter and it was written so KINDLY, so gently. The witch in the letter talked about how being scared of certain things is OK, but also about how she used to be afraid of bats until she met one who was just lost. Max asked to read it three more times. Now he wears bat wings to school and says 'even scared things deserve kindness.'"

"My daughter EMMA has sensory issues and hates Halloween because of the costumes and noise. We ordered a Halloween Witch letter and the fairy WROTE ABOUT THIS — she mentioned that some witches dress up as mermaids or princesses because it feels better on their skin, and that the BEST costume is the one you feel most YOU in. Emma asked if she could be a 'sparkle witch' and she went trick-or-treating for the first time ever. Life-changing."

"We sent this to our goddaughter PENELOPE after her parents' divorce. The Halloween Witch wrote about how sometimes families change shape — like how a witch's cottage can grow a new room when she needs it — and that love doesn't disappear, it just finds new shapes to live in. Her mom sent us a video of Penelope reading it. She was sobbing in the best way. We'll order again every year."
